A console is only as good as the games it can run on it, and that’s particularly true for PlayStation 5. With more than two years since its launch, getting a PS5 has become easier, and there are now a fair few games to play on the new platform. Unlike the Xbox Series X, Sony’s flagship box can run games made for last-gen systems as well, meaning that it has a wide selection of older titles to enjoy from day one.

As with any console launch, the PlayStation 5 had a host of big exclusives to draw gamers in, but it’s the older titles that have been given remasters and ports that really show what the system is capable of. The likes of Uncharted 4 and the spinoff game Until Dawn have been given big visual and performance enhancements for the new console, which make them well worth revisiting, while Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales delivers a blockbuster cinematic experience that rivals Hollywood.

Astro’s Playroom is a great showcase of what the DualSense controller can do, combining 3D audio with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to create sensations you’d never expect. While it’s not a full-fledged game, it’s free and comes pre-installed on every PS5, making it a must-play for anyone with a new box.

Continuing the story of Spartan Kratos and his son Atreus, God of War II offers an emotive narrative that feels fully realized in this latest iteration, while smart evolutions to combat keep things feeling fresh. With real-time ray tracing and a silky-smooth 60fps performance mode, it’s a must-play for PS5 owners. playstation 5 games
