Kelingking Beach
This popular nusa penida tour takes you from Sanur Beach on a speedboat to visit the best natural attractions of the island. You’ll marvel at cliffs, pristine beaches, and lush vegetation as you cruise across the brilliant blue sea.
Kelingking Beach, or T-Rex Cliff, is one of the most iconic spots on the island. The T-shaped peninsula looks like a dinosaur from above, and its rugged cliffs overlook the crystal clear water. It’s also the best spot to watch the sunset on the island.
Just a short drive from Kelingking Beach is Broken Beach, which features a natural rock arch and tidal pool. Another top attraction is Angel’s Billabong, a natural tidal pool on the ocean’s edge that you can swim in.
Next on the itinerary is Goa Giri Putri, a unique temple inside a cave on the east side of the island. It’s not for the faint of heart, though, as you’ll need to crawl through a small hole to enter the massive cave. Afterward, you’ll head to Crystal Bay and enjoy lunch on the incredible white sandy beach.
Broken Beach
Broken beach is a cove located on the west coast of Nusa Penida. It is famous for its rocky landscape and unique curved coastline, which you have probably seen in many pictures online. The best time to visit this beach is during low tide. This is when the rocks really come into focus and you can see more of the cliff’s enchanting scape.
You can reach this destination by either car or motorbike, although the road is rather bumpy in some parts. You will pass by the popular Angel Billabong tourist spot before you arrive at the parking lot of Broken Beach. This area is also a popular hangout place for Manta Rays, so you might be lucky and spot some while there.
To get the most out of your visit to this beautiful island, it is advisable to stay on the island for a night or two. This will give you the opportunity to explore some of the less-visited attractions, as well as avoid the crowded crowds. However, if you are short on time and are visiting the island only for a day then I have put together some potential 1,2, and 3 day itineraries below.
Angel’s Billabong
Located on the southwestern tip of Nusa Penida, Angel’s Billabong is one of the most mesmerizing natural attractions on the island. It’s a breathtaking rockpool that mimics an infinity pool against the backdrop of dramatic coastal cliffs. The water is crystal-clear and calm, making it perfect for swimming and taking pictures. However, the area can be dangerous and rogue waves have washed swimmers away, leading to four deaths in recent years.
The bottom of the tide pool is rocky and sharp, so be careful where you step. It’s also recommended to wear flip-flop instead of closed shoes to prevent blisters. Aside from swimming, you can also take a stroll along the cliffs and watch the sea life from above. You might even see manta rays cruising in the water below the cliffs!
Most visitors visit Angel’s Billabong on a day trip from Bali, but it’s worth staying at least 1-2 days on the island to see all the highlights. You can book a tour from a local company or rent a scooter and hire a driver to explore the island at your own pace.
Tembeling Beach
Pictures of the T-Rex cliffs of Kelingking beach have made this unique spot famous, but it’s even better in person. The hike down to the beach is a workout and a bit scary, but it’s worth it for the unbeatable view. The beach itself is small but incredibly beautiful, surrounded by giant rock walls and a natural pool. There’s also a little swing set and often a woman selling drinks and snacks.
It’s best to visit during the rainy season from November to April, when it’s less crowded. However, Penida is spectacular all year round!
Close by to Angel’s Billabong is Broken Beach, a cool circular cove with a leftover arch. While you can’t swim here, it’s a great spot to watch the manta rays hang out. Right next to it is Tembeling beach with a second natural pool overlooking the ocean. The beach itself is a bit too dangerous to get into, but it’s nice to sit and relax with a cold Bingtang. Tembeling is also home to some temples which are fun to explore!
Crystal Bay
One of the best places to snorkel in Nusa Penida is Crystal Bay. It is home to a vibrant reef that attracts a wide variety of marine life, including the majestic Mola Mola. During their migration, these huge fish can often be seen in the waters around Crystal Bay.
Crystal Bay is also a great spot to soak up the scenery and watch the sunset from. The beach is covered with white sand and has a picturesque view that’s perfect for relaxing. The water is crystal clear, so it’s ideal for swimming.

If you’re not comfortable driving a scooter on this treacherous island, it’s a good idea to book a tour so that someone can drive you to all the highlights of Nusa Penida. They’ll pick you up from your hotel and drop you back, making the experience a lot safer and more convenient.
